Annwyl Bawb/Dear All
In summarizing 2025 a change of last match venue from 2024, a change of date at the last minute a great change in the weather did not deter the Sportsaid faithful and the season closed in the rather haphazard manner in which you all appear to support and enjoy.
Sportsaid is a worthy cause and the presentation to such young and admirable athletes/yachtsmen, and no doubt future Olympians, at Nefyn Golf and District Club highlighted your involvement.
The trophy and highest average score from 4 out of 6 potential events fell to Steve Edge with four or more scores in the high 30’s showing great consistency. A last-minute surge from Dylan Green secured second place and last year’s winner Bryn P Jones came a very close third.
Dewi Cullen took nearest the pin on the 5th (also first out) and even though he might not believe it the nearest to the pin on the 8th by only a few inches was Roy Hursey – hearty congratulations.
Finally, the day’s golf was taken by John Matthews a very long-time supporter of Sportsaid. Apologies but to list the other placed competitors and prize draw winners would take too long; however, hopefully everyone took a little something away from the day, if not just the satisfaction of supporting up and coming young athletes.
The spirit and generosity of those who have donated to the prize fund, made additional donations, travelled, paid and played in all conditions epitomises the spirit of the group; none more so than a random golfer encountered on the course in Nefyn promptly delved into his golf bag and donated a sleeve of balls when it was explained it was a Sportsaid fixture he had stumbled upon. Sam Scott will hopefully join the society next year and will no longer be stranger on the course.
Please spread the word, provide friends, family members and colleagues details of our endeavours and urge them to take part in 2026.
Mawr ddiolch am eich cefnogaeth trwy y flwyddyn
Many thanks for your support throughout the year
