What We Do

SportsAid Cymru Wales is the successor organisation to two formerly separate, but closely linked, charitable bodies, the Welsh Sports Aid Trust and Welsh Sports Aid Foundation.

The bodies were set up in 1985 in direct response to a problem which affects many promising young sportspeople to this day – how to manage the constantly-rising costs of competing, whether it is travelling, accommodation, equipment, training facilities or kit etc.

Exceptional performance in sport calls for many personal sacrifices by those involved. We all take pride in the achievements of our Welsh sporting representatives and it is hugely disappointing when talented youngsters have to drop out because of the financial burden on them or, very often, their parents.

When our star performers progress to the international stage they may well be able to take advantage of elite-level sporting sponsorships and support schemes. But at the beginning of their careers it is only SportsAid Cymru Wales that offers a helping hand that could make all the difference. That is why the backing of our community is so important.

SportsAid Cymru Wales works closely with Sport Wales www.sportwales.org.uk and UK-wide SportsAid www.sportsaid.org.uk

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of organisations and individuals, the charity has maintained its proud record of assistance for more than 30 years.
