Another successful lunch organised by our West Wales Committee held at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel last week. The West Wales Committee raises on average £14k a year for this wonderful charity. Over the last 30 years it totals over £510K.
With over 150 in attendance, the proceedings were opened by the President Rt Hon Kim Howells who was happy to say a few words.
Our administrator Jayne then went on to give some facts and figures: “I am pleased to announce that for the 26 to 27 season SportsAid have given out 133 awards to those aged between 12 and 18. Total value of just over £38K”. She then went on to explain about the Ron Jones MBE and Linda Chamberlain Jones outstanding achievement awards.
The successful nominations for 2025/26 were Matilda Quick a Swansea Harrier for the Ron Jones award and Lexi Holmes (gymnast) and Luca Florea (fencer) for the Linda Chamberlain Jones awards. A brief recap of their achievements was read out. All were amazing.
We were then entertained by Rowland Phillips Rugby Union & Rugby league international. He told some wonderful true stories and gave a great insight into the professional world.
The SportsAid Directors would like to thank all those who attended, the many sponsors and of course all the Committee members and other helpers on the day for all their work.
