Thank you for sponsoring Paul Reid again this year. He has had another good year. Although he has not won much he has had a year of new experience and has enjoyed it very much.
Paul was excepted into the 2023/24 Wales Golf Aspire squad. And has represented wales a number of times.
He played in the U16 Quadratics Matches which were held at Ayr Belleisle in Scotland in April. Unfortunately the weather played a major part in this tournament, so that instead of 3 rounds of foursomes and 3 rounds of single. They only managed to play 1 round of foursomes and 2 of singles. Paul won his foursomes match against the Netherlands and he won of his singles matches against Scotland.
Paul was also one of the Welsh players taken part in the Underrated golf tour which was been played in Europe for the first time. This was held on the old course at Walton Heath were he finish 16th out off 46 players after 2 rounds of golf.
In July Paul went with the Welsh team to play in the European young Masters which was held at Penti Golf resort in Slovakia. This competition was three rounds of golf. Paul was one of a team of four. 2 boys and 2 girls and the three other members of the team finished 15th out of 29 teams which is the best score Wales has achieved. Paul himself finished +5 after the three rounds.
He next played for Wales on August in the boys and girls home internationals which was held at Conway golf club.
Paul was part of the Welsh schools team who took on the English Schools at Rocheford Golf club.
Paul also played in the :-
Duncan putter held at Southerndown Golf club. Where he made the cut to play on the 3rd round to finish 24th overall.
Tucker Trophy which is 2 rounds played at Whitchurch golf club and 2 rounds at Newport Golf club.
He also played for the U16 and the U18 Glamorgan county teams through the year. And had his first County team match for the men's Wessex team.
He has been selected to play in the U18 national Squad and is look forward to the challenges this will present in the coming year.
