What a delight the March 2024 Sportsaid Cymru Wales Luncheon turned out to be on March 7th, 2024.

Robert Jones, capped 54 times by Wales and also on 3 occasions by the British Lions was our guest speaker.

The event was ably compered by Kevan Eveleigh with Dave Mason, our Company Secretary standing in for our Chairman on the day.

Robert gave a compelling, interesting and very funny speech about his rugby career from early days, through his career with the Welsh team and also touring with the British Lions.

Nick Warr and Alan Hughes were presented with special long service awards by Linda Chamberlain-Jones in recognition of their contribution over many years to this fine society.

In addition, in a surprise change to the published programme, Richard Gealy representing our West Wales branch donated a cheque of £8000 for funds raised in their region. This followed on from a donation of £6500 from the same group at our October 2023 Luncheon where Brynmor Williams and Phil Steele were our guests. A truly outstanding effort from West Wales.

Dr.Kim Howells received the cheque on behalf of SportsAid Cymru Wales.

As usual, the Park Plaza Hotel proved to be an excellent venue with an impeccable standard of food and service.

All in all a super day out that anyone is welcome to attend.

If you would like to join in and come to one of our Sports Luncheons, to join our golf society in either North or South Wales, or simply to support young and upcoming Welsh athletes and get involved then please contact us. You would be most welcome.
